Dragon Fruit Recipes

Dragon fruit looks quite exotic & intimidating if you are eating it for the first time. However, a number of yummy dragon fruit recipes do exist & dragon fruit can be actually quite versatile to eat.

One of the benefits of dragon fruit is that it has a tendency to blend with a number of recipes & the colour pink can make the recipe look even more appealing. Not only that, this fruit is loaded with nutrients & has low calories on top.

It also pairs great with ice creams. You can use it as an integral flavoring ingredient in homemade ice cream or as an added burst of taste or color to plain old vanilla ice cream.

It can also be used as an edible decorative piece to the main course, due to its eye-grabbing shape & color.

Dragon fruit slices can be dropped into any beverage of your choice.

It can be added to several desserts like cakes, mousse and even just fresh slices with macarons are delicious.

Here are some healthy dragon fruit recipes that you can prepare at home. 

1. Dragon Fruit Milkshake

This is one of the most easy dragon fruit recipes.

Having a dragon fruit shake every breakfast can be the right choice to welcome a healthy lifestyle. 

Ingredients:

  • One banana cut into small pieces
  • 1 full dragon fruit
  • 1 glass of milk (250ml) 
  • 4  Â½ glass of water
  • 3 tsp sugar (Optional)
  • 2 Cashews (Optional)

How to make dragon fruit shake ?

  • Step 1: Put the sliced banana & dragon fruit into the blender.
  • Step 2: Add the glass of milk into the blender and add 3 tsp of sugar or less if the fruit is sweet enough. Blend till it turns smooth. (If it appears thick, add more water or more milk). 
  • Step 3: Pour it in a glass and add crushed cashew to give it a garnished look.

2. Dragon fruit salad

This salad will be served in the beautiful, pink dragon fruit shells which will give a cool, colorful & aesthetic touch.

Ingredients:

  • Half watermelon sliced into small pieces
  • One banana cut into small pieces
  • A cup of black grapes
  • A scoop of ice cream
  • 2 neatly sliced dragon fruits

How to make dragon fruit salad ?

Add all the fruits into a bowl. Sprinkle some salt & pepper mix. If you have sweet tooth then you can add a small scoop of icecream too. Serve them in the dragon fruit shell bowls.

3. Dragon fruit frozen sorbet

This is a cooling, refreshing frozen treat in the tempting magenta color.

Ingredients:

  • One ripe magenta fleshed dragon fruit
  • One tsp lemon juice
  • One tbs sugar

Add all ingredients into a blender & blend until a smooth consistency is obtained. Now freeze the mixture. Leave it at room temperature for 10 minutes before serving.

4. Dragon fruit smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup dragon fruit
  • 1 cup mango
  • 2 bananas 
  • 3/4 cup almond milk

 Add all the ingredients into a blender & blend until a smooth consistency is obtained. If you want it more thick then you can add a small amount of protein powder as needed. Refrigerate it & enjoy the cooling taste.

5. Dragon fruit lime shake

Ingredients:

  • 1 fully ripe dragon fruit
  • 2 tangerines, peeled, segmented & seeds removed.
  • 1 tbs lime juice
  • 4 fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tablespoons sugar(optional)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup crushed ice

Add all ingredients into a blender & blend it until a smooth consistency is obtained. Now swirl in the crushed ice & the shake is ready. Garnish it with two small slices of dragon fruit.
